Emas stabil setelah penurunan 1% pada sesi sebelumnya yang mendorongnya ke level terendah delapan minggu. Pengukur dolar telah naik ke level tertinggi dua tahun karena ekspektasi bahwa kemenangan Presiden terpilih Donald Trump akan meningkatkan pertumbuhan ekonomi dan laba perusahaan. Greenback yang lebih kuat membuat komoditas yang dihargakan dalam mata uang tersebut lebih mahal bagi sebagian besar pembeli.
Data harga konsumen AS hari Rabu turun, sejalan dengan ekspektasi pada basis utama, meskipun suku bunga inti tiga bulan tahunan meningkat. Secara keseluruhan, angka-angka tersebut mendukung potensi penurunan Fed pada pertengahan Desember, dengan pedagang swap memperkirakan kemungkinan itu lebih dari 80%. Biaya pinjaman yang lebih rendah cenderung menguntungkan emas, yang tidak membayar bunga. Logam mulia tersebut telah turun lebih dari 7% dari rekor tertinggi pada 31 Oktober, dengan penurunan yang semakin cepat setelah kemenangan Trump di Gedung Putih. Harga masih naik sekitar 25% tahun ini, didukung oleh siklus pelonggaran moneter Fed, pembelian bank sentral, dan meningkatnya risiko geopolitik dan ekonomi yang mendorong permintaan aset safe haven.
